Working with in the WebCT Learning Management System
GippsTAFE operating under the banner of the State of Victoria State Virtual Campus (managed by the state Government) are using WebCT Vista 4.0. The Voice Tools ship with a PowerLink into WebCT and this is how they have been added into the WebCT environment for GippsTAFE.
"the wimba voice tools aren't a separate environment for us, we've just blended it all together and integrated it into the one slim line version. So we're not dealing with different logins and so forth, it's all integrated... so from a teachers perspective it's an extra tool that WebCT doesn't provided them with, therefore it's exactly what we want.
But from a student perspective they're not worrying about 'should we log into this one, should we login to that one?'. It's a nice smooth, seamless integration between the two environments.
And that's just the nature of where GippsTAFE sits as opposed to a different organisation who would use it as a standalone product, and that's our choice, but it's certainly the bonus of using the Wimba Voice Tools is that we have been able to quite seamlessly integrate it into our WebCT environment." "It is very true to say that if you have the two platforms (being WebCT and the Wimba Voice Tools) integrated as a PowerLink into the WebCT environment, if a teacher is able to add a single page then they're able to add a voice board. It's as simple as one click and it's there. It really does make it much easier for the teachers". BB
